Ramon Farré, head of the IDIBAPS Respiratory biophysics and bioengineering group and chair professor of Physiology at the University of Barcelona, has been honoured with the “Research Innovation and Translation Achievement Award” which is given by the American Thoracic Society (ATS).
The presentation of the award took place during the ATS Respiratory Health Awards ceremony, where various distinctions were given in recognition of outstanding contributions and accomplishments in pulmonary diseases, critical care, and sleep health.
The award conferred on Ramon Farré recognises “his outstanding contribution to the development of respiratory research focused on specific innovations to improve health by advancing practice, policy, and health care delivery", according to the organisers. The honour also “recognises his accomplishments and his role as leader, pursuing team science through collaborative approaches, both interdisciplinary and inter-institutional. The awardee’s contributions demonstrate real-world innovation with tangible benefits to address unmet health care needs”, they conclude.
