Under the umbrella of the ‘Friends of the Clínic’ programme, this community is made up of patients, patients' relatives and close friends, patient associations, companies, and even professionals from the Hospital Clínic. One of the most significant ways in which the 'Friends of the Clínic’ are mobilized is through the so-called 'Raise funds for us' initiatives.
With widely ranging degrees of complexity, the ‘Raise funds for us’ initiatives include: sporting and cultural activities; family celebrations; gastronomic activities; merchandising sales; corporate events; 'in memoriam’ fundraising, etc. In 2021, several fundraising activities were held to support the Hospital Clínic. These included: the Firefighters Solidarity fun run in Barcelona; the Everesting XL Lupus trail run in Sant Vicenç de Montalt; the exhibition of watercolours by Joan Serradell in Sant Quirze de Besora; the 100% Galliners solidarity ride; the Solidarity Zumba event that is organized each year by the Pas a Pas association; the sale of solidarity bracelets; several ‘in memoriam’ crowdfunding campaigns, and many other things.
Whether is in an individual or an organization, those who promote usually have a close relationship with the Hospital Clínic and its professionals. Usually, they are patients, relatives or friends who, as a result of their time at the hospital, want to express their gratitude in the form of collaboration, by inviting others to participate in the different initiatives, in order to help fight against a specific disease. There are also people and organizations who, moved by the excellence of the projects carried out at the Hospital Clínic, want to do their bit to help fund them. The fact that these are web-based activities enhances their fundraising impact. At the same time, it also raises awareness organically, so that the number of activities to support the Hospital Clínic that are promoted externally grows exponentially year after year.
Precisely because of the outreach and communication impact they can have, in order to give them the appropriate support and to ensure they are properly aligned with our activities, the ‘Raise funds for us' actions carried out under the Clínic brand go through a registration and approval process that is managed by the Patronage Area.
The Hospital Clínic de Barcelona is grateful for all the expressions of solidarity, which have made it possible to raise €300,000 to support the hospital.
