40 years of AIDS, the pandemic of the second half of the 20th century

5 June 2021 marks the 40th anniversary of the first description of cases of what would later be known as Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The Hospital Clínic de Barcelona has a pioneering unit created in 1989, which treats over 6,000 patients with this infection, making it the unit that monitors the highest number of cases in Spain.
