The Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) is a biomedical research institute of excellence. It combines clinical and basic research to accelerate the translation of knowledge to the benefit of the patients.
Founded in 1996, it is a public consortium formed by the Generalitat de Catalunya, Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the Universitat de Barcelona and, as an associated center, the CSIC’s Barcelona Biomedical Research Institute.
The research activities of IDIBAPS are structured into 5 areas. Additionally, 3 transversal groups perform research in “primary care”, “nursing” and “pharmacology and clinical trials”.
The Fundació Clínic per a la Recerca Biomèdica (FCRB) is a non-profit foundation, covered by the law of patronage, that provides researchers from IDIBAPS and Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, with overall administrative and management support.
Founded in 1989, it also works to attract resources for research and, through the Aula Clínic and Eixample Clínic platforms, it promotes and disseminates continuous training in health sciences.
